What is PEEK material?
PEEK (Polyetheretherketone)It is a semi-crystalline, high-performance thermoplastic engineering plastic belonging to the polyaryletherketone (PAEK) family. Its unique molecular structure endows it with exceptional mechanical strength, chemical stability, and thermal stability.
PEEK was developed by the British company ICI in the 1970s and was initially used in the aerospace industry. After decades of development, it has now become the preferred choice for replacing metals and other high-performance materials, finding extensive applications in demanding industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, semiconductors, medical devices, and food processing.
Compared to traditional sealing materials such as PTFE, nylon, and POM, PEEK demonstrates outstanding stability under high-temperature and high-pressure conditions while offering excellent wear resistance and creep resistance. It is an ideal choice for sealing applications in extreme environments.

Eight Core Advantages of PEEK Material
High-temperature resistant
Continuous operating temperature up to 260°C, with short-term resistance to 300°C, far exceeding other engineering plastics.
Radiation-resistant
Outstanding radiation resistance, suitable for nuclear and medical radiation environments
Low water absorption rate
Excellent dimensional stability, does not expand or deform due to humidity changes
Chemical resistance
Resistant to strong acids, strong alkalis, and organic solvents; only concentrated sulfuric acid can corrode it.
High mechanical strength
Tensile strength reaches 100 MPa, maintaining excellent strength even at elevated temperatures.
Wear-resistant
Low friction coefficient, with wear resistance exceeding that of nylon by more than five times.

PEEK Material Performance Data Comparison
Data indicates that PEEK maintains the highest mechanical strength in high-temperature environments while offering the most outstanding wear resistance. Although its initial cost is relatively high, its long-term performance in demanding applications far surpasses that of other materials.

PEEK Material Types and Properties Overview
| PEEK Type | Characteristics | Application Areas |
|---|---|---|
| Unfilled PEEK | High purity, exceptional mechanical strength, chemical resistance, electrical insulation | High-purity seals, electrical components, food processing equipment |
| Carbon fiber-filled PEEK | Significantly enhances strength, stiffness, wear resistance, and creep resistance | High-load bearings, piston rings, structural seals, anti-static components |
| Glass fiber-filled PEEK | Increase stiffness, creep resistance, heat deflection temperature, and dimensional stability | Structural components, high-temperature applications, seals requiring high rigidity |
| PTFE/Graphite/Carbon-filled PEEK | Extremely low friction coefficient, excellent wear resistance, self-lubricating properties | Applications for non-lubricated bearings, sliding seals, piston rings, and dynamic seals |
Selecting the appropriate PEEK material modification type is critical to the performance of seals in specific application environments. Chengxin Sealing King can provide professional material selection recommendations tailored to your requirements.
Customer Success Stories
Semiconductor Equipment Suppliers' Breakthrough from Difficulties
The original PTFE seals frequently failed during high-temperature processes, requiring four hours of downtime for each replacement and severely impacting production capacity. After switching to Chengxin Seal King's PEEK seals, service life increased fivefold, with no unplanned downtime occurring in the past six months.
